"Once upon a time" we lived for decades or generations in neighborhoods and villages. Everyone knew one another; knew their gifts and their needs, It was natural to share and to give help.
For most of us that is a distant memory, as technology and the economy have split us apart. The TimeBank uses technology to help change that. Members use a "Pay it Forward" approach to connnect and share their time, exchanging favors and services.
Our TimeBank has three main goals:
- Strengthen our communities and help meet people's real needs.
- Serve people, giving them a means to help one another: value their giving.
- Build trust and establish new relationships.
We are a community network of neighbors helping neighbors. Members share their talents and services; the time they spend is valued, and recorded in their TimeBank accounts Later folks "spend" those Hours on services they want. Everyone's hours are equal. This is not barter. These are friendly, neighborly favors. Together we are building a local community network based on relationships and time. We promote the exchange of skills and talents to increase the sustainability and well-being of our communities.
